Alumnus Trey Miller ('09) is slated to be top quarterback for the U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen this season, an opportunity he has dreamed of since his first year at the Naval Academy Prep School in 2009.
Miller earned attention as the reserve quarterback last season when starter Kris Proctor was knocked out of the game with an elbow injury. Although the Midshipmen ultimately lost to East Carolina in that game, Miller led Navy on a fourth-quarter rally, completing five passes for 126 yards.
"He played a lot against East Carolina and almost brought us back in that game," Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said.
While at Whitefield, Miller helped guide the WolfPack to two regional football championships.
