The varsity boys tennis team was recently honored by the Smyrna City Council at their July meeting. Members of the council recognized the team for their outstanding 2012 tennis season which ended in the state championship this past spring. Councilman Ron Fennel read a proclamation, written by Mayor Max Bacon, which cited the accomplishments of the team as well as the contributions Whitefield has made to the Smyrna community.
This is the second time this year that the city of Smyrna has recognized Whitefield. The council also honored the varsity boys basketball team at an April 2012 meeting after the team won the state basketball championship.
