The poetry of Nikki Giovanni has been making waves around Whitefield recently.
During the first week of school, eighth-graders in Mrs. Moss's English class created their own versions of the poem "Knoxville, Tennessee" by Nikki Giovanni.
Around that same time, Mrs. Blunier, Whitefield librarian, invited Samara Huggins ('17) to the Upper School library to pose for a picture with her favorite poetry book, which happened to be "The Collected Poetry of Nikki Giovanni." Mrs. Moss later noticed the book on a display in the library and put two and two together after talking with Mrs. Blunier.
Thank you to poet Nikki Giovanni for making an impact on our Whitefield community!
