For the first time in Lower School history, Grandparents Day was held at the end of September rather than during the week of Thanksgiving. This date change meant that the PreK4 through fourth-grade students only had six weeks to prepare for this important event. However, the shortened rehearsal time did not even faze these talented students, as they performed a program filled with singing and narration centered around timeless hymns in what many are calling the best Grandparents Day program yet.
“While I am always amazed at what our Lower School students can achieve, I was blown away by their level of talent, poise, and confidence,” said Lower School Principal Jeannie Brostrand. “They not only performed, they ministered. There’s just something extra special about children singing hymns that touch all of our hearts so deeply.”
Split into groupings of PreK4 and kindergarten, first and second grade, and third and fourth grade, the segments included two hymn medleys each, with 19 soloists and narrations throughout. The day was also attended by a record number of grandparents, with approximately 450 in the audience, and 125 viewing online through our live stream.
