The Whitefield Dramatic Society remains a place where Middle School and Upper School performers use their diverse gifts to glorify the Lord and grow as young artists.
This Saturday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m., the freshman and sophomore students in the Dramatic Society will host the first-ever Underclassmen Musical Theater Showcase in the Louise Owens Theater. These young performers are tackling monologues, duets, and solos from the classics, like Rodgers and Hammerstein, through contemporary shows currently running on Broadway. Every facet of the showcase, lighting design included, is created by the underclassmen of the Whitefield Dramatic Society, and they are a talented group!
The fact that Whitefield has underclassmen able to handle diverse and difficult material is a testament to the performing arts foundation given to students in Lower School and Middle School.
“Just last year, Middle School students designed lights for several shows and spent the year learning to sing in six indigenous African languages, so they came into the year ready to be challenged as performers and artists," said Whitefield theater arts teacher Kayla Marsh. "I’m so excited they get to showcase their talents at the start of the year!”
