Sixty-nine Lower School Chorale students competed at the 2016 Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) choral festival on Thursday, February 11, earning a superior first-place rating from three judges. Whitefield was one of 11 other choirs from private Christian schools from the Atlanta area that competed in the festival.
The students performed two song selections, Goliath by Joseph M. Martin, and Be
a Candle of Hope by Becki Slagle Mayo. Each choir competing can earn a first, second, or third place rating. The competition is evaluative; choirs do not compete against each other, but each group is judged on criteria ranging from part and rhythm accuracy to tone and interpretation.
"I am proud of how the Lower School students represented not only the arts of Whitefield Academy but the Lord; displaying hard work and excellence with their gifts and talents,” Steve Henson, Lower School Chorale director
