Whitefield Academy eighth graders left campus recently to host a field day with Atlanta Youth Academy (AYA).  National Junior Honor Society students planned activities for AYA students and then fellow classmates helped execute the planned games and challenges.

“The kids planned 13 different activities ranging from face painting to tug-of-war,” said Kristen Windhorst, Middle School math teacher. “They gathered all the AYA students for a parade to open field day and made it a lot of fun for everyone. They even planned educational challenges. AYA students formed teams and had to build containers out of Popsicle sticks and test how many pebbles they could hold.”

Atlanta Youth Academy is an inner city school near Grant Park which offers an excellent Christ-centered education to low-income urban children. The school serves pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

“I was so proud of our kids because they worked in record-breaking heat to make the day great for AYA students,” said Windhorst. “Everyone had a lot of fun!”
