Four Whitefield Academy athletes were honored in a school signing ceremony on Thursday, April 28 in the school’s Athletic Center. Upper School students and school administrators gathered to celebrate the four athletes who signed letters of intent with NCAA colleges earlier this year.
Terald “TJ” Carter Jr. will be playing football at the University of Kentucky, a Division 1 university in Lexington. The Wildcats play in the Southeastern Conference. A three-star recruit, Carter was named Player of the Week by the Marietta Daily Journal and made the All-Region team.
“TJ will be a great blessing to the coaching staff at the University of Kentucky,” said John Hunter, Whitefield interim head football coach. “It has been a pleasure to watch him grow and now see him move into this next phase of growth.”
Jordan Greer will be playing football with Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. A Division 1 team, the Butler Bulldogs play in the Big East/Pioneer Conference.
Jordan is going to bring a strong work ethic and a real tenacious spirit to the team,” said Hunter, “The Bulldogs will be lucky to have him.”
Ty McLemore will play football for Mercer University in Macon. The school is a Division 1 school that plays in the Southern Conference. McLemore was captain of the WolfPack varsity football team this year; earned Marietta Daily Journal Player of the Week in his sophomore, junior, and senior years; and was selected to the All-Region team in his junior and senior year. He is also vice-president of the National Honor Society.
“I’ve been blessed to coach Ty in two sports, lacrosse and football,” said John Hunter. “He will lead by example in Macon and make a huge impact on the Bears team.”
Brendon Myles will be playing basketball with Florida A & M University, located in Tallahassee, FL, a Division 1 school that plays in the Mid-East Conference. Myles was a leading scorer with the WolfPack varsity basketball team, scoring over 1,000 points during his high school career, and averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game this past season. He has earned the Atlanta Outstanding Players Award and a spot on the 1st team All-Region and 2nd team All-Metro as well as numerous other athletic accolades.
“Brendon made an impact on the WolfPack team from day one,” said varsity coach Tyrone Johnson. “Every year he just kept getting better and better.”
