The varsity boys soccer team traveled to Columbus this past weekend to play Pacelli Catholic High School. Pacelli took an early lead but Whitefield continued to press on offensely. In the second half Josh Mitchell (12th) scored on a header, off a perfectly placed corner kick by Peter Sengson (10th) and brought the game to a tie. It looked like the game would go into overtime but with about three minutes left Pacelli scored and the game ended with a score of 1- 2.
On Wednesday, the team defeated W.D. Mohammed 3-2 in overtime. Whitefield took the early lead with a goal on a curving corner kick by Jacob Crowe (11th) and then a goal on a penalty kick by Noah Boswell (12th). W.D. Mohammed evened up the score in the second half, sending the game into overtime. With about a minute left in the second overtime, Noah scored on a pass by Josh Mitchell (12th). Whitefield's defense, led by Jacob, Brent Hildebrand (12th), Matt Segars (12th), Nick Russell (10th), and Ian Nash (9th), kept W.D. Mohammed scoreless in overtime.
