Monday’s rain was replaced by wind and cold, but the WolfPack attacked through the elements to defeat the Campbell Spartans, 15-3. Whitefield jumped to a 7-1 lead in the first quarter then built a 13-1 halftime lead. The Pack showed some mercy on the Spartans in the second half. Most of the WolfPack saw playing time - giving the overall team much needed game-time experience.
The WolfPack goal was pretty quiet due to strong defensive and midfield play that kept the shots on goal to a low 11. In goal, Wills McCutcheon (10th) had seven saves and Jordon Howard (9th) had one. The WolfPack scooped up 23 ground balls (GBs) and caused six turnovers (CTs). Defense was led by Connor Callan (11th) with five GBs and two CTs, Thomas Joiner (10th) with five GBs and one CT, Carson Brown (11th) with three GBs, Joseph Schwartz (10th) with two GBs and one CT, and Jack Charles (10th) with two GBs and one CT. Carter Dixon (11th) and Brenner McCutcheon (11th) had one GB and one CT each. One GB each was snagged by William Charles (12th), KJ Canion (11th), Jordan Saibu (11th), and Michael McCarthy (10th).
The offensive El Niño was led by Jonathan Wood (11th) with five goals and Mitchell Ryan (11th) with three goals and four assists. William scored four goals; Jack scored two goals and two assists; Thomas scores two goals with one assist; and Carter scored one goal.
