The varsity lacrosse team secured a dominating home win over the Carrolton Trojans, 14-2 on Tuesday, February 16. Thomas Joiner (10th) won the initial face-off and Mitchell Ryan (11th) scored less than 90 seconds later to put the WolfPack on top. Whitefield built an 8-0 lead before surrendering a goal late in the second period. Scoring was led by William Charles (12th) with 5 goals and Jonathan Wood (11th) with 3 goals and 4 assists. Mitchell earned 2 goals and 1 assist; Carter Dixon (11th) scored 1 goal and 2 assists; Michael McCarthy (10th) scored 1 goal and 1 assist; and Jack Fitzgerald (11th) and Joiner each earned a goal. Jack Charles (10th) added an assist.
The game was mostly played on the Trojan side of the battlefield, but Wills McCutcheon (10th) still netted 10 saves for a 77% saves percentage. The defensive power of the WolfPack was demonstrated with 11 caused turnovers (CTs) and 22 ground balls (GBs). Defense was led by Connor Callan (11th) with 7 GBs and 2 CTs; Joiner with 5 GBs and 2 CTs; Joseph Schwartz (10th) with 2 GBs and 2 CTs; Ryan with 2 GBs; and Jack with 2 CTs.
