Coach Tyrone Johnson and senior Kenny Gaines were recently honored as Marietta Daily Journal's "Cobb County Basketball Coach of the Year," and "Cobb County Basketball Player of the Year."
Coach Johnson was honored because he led Whitefield to its third Class A state title this year - one in 2012, one in 2009, and one in 2003. In addition, he has coached the WolfPack team to six appearances in the state finals during his 11-year tenure as varsity coach.
The MDJ also recognized senior Kenny Gaines writing, "For his leadership and outstanding play, Gaines is the 2011-12 Marietta Daily Journal/Cobb County Boys Basketball Player of the Year."
