Whitefield families enjoyed the sound of Big Band classics like Moon River and Chattanooga Choo-Choo at the First Annual Jazz by the Pond event held Wednesday, May 6. The relaxing atmosphere gave families an opportunity to chat with one another while enjoying good music.
The Whitefield jazz band is well-known across the Atlanta area, and has played about 25 concerts at banquets, retirement homes, and special events this year. The band has played at the Decorator’s Show Case, the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center, and the Cobb County Galleria.
“We have played all over the city and beyond, and the students really wanted to treat our own community to some good music,” said Stacy Quiros fine arts director. “With the end of the school year close at hand, we thought this concert would be a way for families to get together and reflect on all that God has done, before heading out for summer vacation.”
The Whitefield jazz band is comprised of Brandon Morris, Felton Smith, Natalia Pitter, Malik Jones, Ethan Powell, Anna Kate Peterson, Lauren Burke, Rubin Thomas, Kaitlyn Johnson, Will Fulks, Michael Baldwin, Daniel Justice and Daniel Keith.
