Whitefield Academy celebrated the arts with Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School Arts Days in April. Middle School and Upper School Arts Day was on April 1, with Middle School students taking a full day for the event, and Upper School students taking a half-day. Lower School students celebrated Arts Day on April 10.
Leading up to Arts Day, Middle School students enjoyed "Wolflanta.” Members of the National Junior Arts Society created wolves, then hid them around campus for other students to find. This adventure was modeled after a community art project in Atlanta called “Catlanta.”
On Arts Day, Middle School students began with field trips to the Museum of Design Atlanta (fifth grade),
the High Museum of Art (sixth grade), Artisan Resource Center (7th), and Savannah College of Art and Design’s Atlanta campus. After returning to campus, the Middle School students enjoyed performances by Laughing Matters, an improv group and The Glass Harpist. The students ended their day with a Color Foam run.
Upper School students enjoyed performances by students and teachers from the music program at Shorter University, and then divided into small classes where they studied topics such as mime, pottery, PhotoShop and more. The Upper School students also enjoyed the Color Foam run.
During Lower School Arts Day, the students enjoyed a multitude of hands-on arts sessions which taught various aspects of dramatic, musical, and visual arts.
