In the region crossover game, the varsity baseball team overcame a slow start and went on to beat North Cobb Christian 9-3 on Friday at home, winning their 20th game of the season. This win leads into the playoffs which start on Friday, May 1, with a doubleheader against an opponent and location to be determined.
Down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Bradley Davidson (12th) got the run started with an RBI single plating John Schwartz (11th). Ryan Wesley (12th) then singled in Nile Ball (12th), and Will Brogan (11th) singled and scored two runs, finishing the five-run inning. The Pack got three more runs in the sixth inning, leading to the region win.
Offensively, the Pack was led by Sam Fuller who was one for two at the plate with a two RBI double
and a bases loaded walk for three RBIs. Will was one-for-three with two RBIs, Matt Olson (12th) was one-for-three with two RBIs, and Ryan was two-for-three with an RBI.
Matt got the win on the mound, pitching a complete game with three strikeouts and allowing only one earned run.
The Pack moves to 20-4 on the season and has completed regular season play. By Tuesday, the final Private School Power Rankings should be finalized, and Whitefield’s opponent and game location will be announced. The playoffs begin Friday, May 1, with a doubleheader in a best of three-game series.
