The varsity baseball team returned to action Monday in a rain-soaked doubleheader at LakePoint, beating St. Francis 10-0 and 8-2. The two region wins lift the Pack to eighth place in the Class A Power Rankings.
Ryan Wesley (12th) pitched a six inning no-hitter in the first game with five strikeouts, and Jake Gilbert (11th) closed in the seventh with one strikeout. Ryan now has the lowest earned run average (ERA) in the state (0.34). Ryan also tripled and had three RBIs; Bradley Davidson (12th) tripled and had two RBIs; and RBIs were added by Matt Olson (12th) and Mason Jones (10th). Luke Miltner (11th) was one-for-three with a double and Jimmy McCarthy (10th) was one-for-three with a double.
Matt Olson (12th) got the win on the mound in the second game, going all seven innings striking out nine and allowing only two runs for his third win of the season. Nile Ball (12th) got the big hit with a bases-loaded double in the first inning for three RBIs. Matt added two RBIs and was one-for-two at the plate while Ryan added a double and one RBI; Jimmy nailed a triple to deep center field and was one-for-three at the plate.
The Pack moves to 15-3 on the season and 9-2 in region play, maintaining sole possession of second place in Region 6 and moving to eighth in the all-important Power Rankings. The Pack plays at Pinecrest Thursday at 5 p.m. and returns home on Friday again against Pinecrest. Go Pack!!
