Thirty-two Whitefield students joined the National Honor Society at an induction ceremony held in the Louise Owens Theater on March 6. Established in 1921, the NHS recognizes outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Dr. Kevin Bracher, headmaster, opened the ceremony by praising the students' commitment to excellence and remarking that the mission of the NHS is very similar to the mission of Whitefield Academy.

"The National Honor Society's commitment to academic excellence, service, and character matches Whitefield's mission to have 'a passion for learning, for others ahead of self, and for the living and active Jesus."

NHS members shared the criteria for membership and Jesse Breite, NHS faculty sponsor, read each inductee's name one-by-one. As the students' names were called, each lit a candle which represented the area of scholarship, leadership, character or service. The students then shared how they wanted to grow in that particular area, and were congratulated by Upper School Principal Jason Van Bemmel.

Congratulations to these inductees: Natalie Bell, Carson Brown, Lauren Burke, Merritt Enright, Kelley Eubanks, Maggie Leigh Faulk, Will Fulks, Audree Grand’Pierre, Ansley Guthrie, Maddie Hill, Holden Hosch, Samara Huggins, Daniel Keith, Bailey Koenig, Rachael Lewis, Melissa Lezcano, Katherine Martin, Jimmy McCarthy, Misha McDaniel, Olivia Nandkeolyar, Olivia Nicholas, Christina Nicks, Anna Kate Peterson, Ethan Powell, Elizabeth Pridgeon, Madeline Sengson, Felton Smith, Kathleen Stueve, Kalen Tavassoli, Brendan Thomas, Rubin Thomas, and Bradley Washington.
