The Whitefield varsity baseball team opened their season on Saturday with a lopsided win over Jonesboro in five innings. Scoring started early when Sam Fuller (10th) hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning. The Pack added four runs in the second, one in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth to run rule the Cardinals in five innings.
Sam led the way offensively going three-for-four from the plate adding a double and a single for a total of five RBIs. Luke Miltner (11th) had two doubles and an RBI; Matt Olson (12th) added two doubles; and Will Brogan (11th) added two RBIs on a sacrifice fly ball. Sam, Ryan Wesley (12th), and Bailey Combs (12th) each scored three runs for the Pack.
Matt led the way with a strong pitching performance allowing only one hit in four scoreless innings while striking out seven to gain the win.
