On Saturday afternoon the Whitefield varsity boys basketball team hosted Hebron Christian in the first round of the state tournament. The WolfPack jumped out to a 9-2 lead early in the game and never looked back. By the end of the first quarter the team led 19-11. The team expanded their lead in the second quarter by going on a 21-4 scoring run. By halftime Whitefield led 40-15. Whitefield's scoring continued in the third quarter; by the fourth quarter Coach Johnson rested the starting five.
In the end the WolfPack won 68-36. Junior Brendon Myles led the team in scoring with 13 points, followed by junior Jordan Greer with 12, sophomore Isaiah Hart with 11, and senior Norman Harris with 10. Leading the team in rebounds was senior Courtney Alexander with eight, followed by Norman with six. Norman also led the team in assists with five, followed by freshman Myles Belyeu and Brendon with three each. The team will play North Cobb in the second round of the state tournament at home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
