The Lady WolfPack varsity basketball team tenaciously hung on to their lead against Mt. Pisgah, winning 38 to 35 on Tuesday, February 3 at Mt. Pisgah. The game started out slowly; the first quarter score was Whitefield 10 to Mount Pisgah 5. As the halftime buzzer sounded, junior Carmyn Cosey's incredible three-pointer fell through the hoop, putting the WolfPack ahead by seven, 20-13. Working through the third and fourth quarters, Laren Vanarsdale (9th) and Carmyn went on a steal and pass frenzy, with Laren scoring 15 of her 20 points. Freshman Devyn Wilson, snagging 10 rebounds under Mt. Pisgah's goal, kept the ball in Whitefield hands. Senior Hannah Brown was back in the game, rebounding and keeping the pressure on Mt. Pisgah. Lillian Hill (10th), Sydney Wingate (11th), and Samarra Huggins (10th) stole the ball, rebounded and scored to keep Whitefield ahead.
