Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Beats St. Frances
On Friday, January 16, the junior varsity boys basketball team completed a game against St. Francis. The final score was Whitefield 45 and St. Francis 37. Freshmen Myles Belyeu led the way with 23 points.
Varsity Girls Basketball Beats W.D. Mohammed
The varsity girls basketball team secured an 84 - 39 victory over W.D. Mohammed at home on Saturday, January 17. Freshman Laren Vanarsdale was responsible for 28 points, 11 steals, and five rebounds. Devyn Wilson (9th) put 19 points on the board, clinching 100% of her free throws, stole the ball eight times and rebounded 10 for the Lady WolfPack. Junior Carmyn Cosey and sophomore Lillian Hill each scored 14 points and Lillian led the team in rebounds with 11. Junior Sydney Wingate scored nine points. Sophomores Samara Huggins and Misha McDaniel were aggressive in rebounding and stealing the ball, costing the opponent several turnovers.
Middle School Blue Team Beats King's Academy
Whitefield’s Blue Team beat King’s Academy 49-30 on Saturday, January 17 in a home game. Whitefield’s full and half-court presses led to a 19-point lead at the half. King’s Academy made a good run in the second half, but they could never overcome the deficit. West Peterson and Julian Munoz combined for seven 3-point baskets. The boys play Mt. Bethel tonight at home.
Middle School Gold Closes Season Out With Win
The Middle School Gold team closed out the season on a high note, defeating Mt. Bethel 34-20 on Tuesday afternoon. Whitefield took the lead early in the game and held a 20-9 advantage after two quarters. Seventh-grader Komichel Johnson sparked the team defensively while sixth-grader Preston Lang scored six points off the bench before halftime. Sixth-grader Myles Redding (10 points) and seventh-grader Jason Dinschel (nine points) led the Pack offensively. Fellow seventh-grader Seir Teasley (two points) provided a strong effort in the fourth quarter.
