Junior Varsity Boys Beat Fellowship Christian
On Tuesday, January 13, the junior varsity boys basketball team beat Fellowship Christian 47-34. Myles Belyeu led the way with 15 points and Michael McCarthy followed close behind with 13 points.
Middle School Gold Team Wins In Overtime
The Middle School Gold basketball team picked up an important region win on Tuesday afternoon, defeating North Cobb Christian, 27-24, in an overtime thriller. Whitefield jumped out to an early 8-2 lead behind two three-point baskets by seventh-grader Louis Brogan (six points, six rebounds, two steals), but a determined opponent battled back and tied the game 14-14 heading into halftime. In the second half, the game was close throughout and both teams had a chance to win in regulation play. The Pack stayed poised in the extra period to pull out the victory. Sixth grader Myles Redding (11 points, seven steals) led the way on both ends of the court. Sixth graders Preston Lang (four points, four rebounds) and Ethan Garrett (two points, four rebounds, two steals) along with seventh graders Danny Megathlin (two points, six rebounds, three steals) and MJ McCurdy (two rebounds, two steals) made important contributions in the game. Seventh grader Myles Tyree-Kakou came off the bench in the fourth quarter and hit a critical basket to give Whitefield a chance for the win.
Middle School Blue Team Defeats North Cobb
The Middle School Blue basketball team defeated North Cobb Christian on Tuesday night, 58-38. The Pack played four solid quarters of defense and offense, building on its lead each quarter. Caleb Corliss contributed key defense to slow North Cobb Christian’s main scoring threat, Tim Walker. Pierce Rogers and Julian Munoz both had two monster quarters attacking the basket and combining for 32 points (Pierce, 18, and Julian, 14). Kaleb Brooks and Zach Justice both added eight points in transition and in the half-court offense. This win makes the team’s third win since the break.
Middle School Girls Basketball Team Prevails Over North Cobb
The Middle School girls basketball team returned to winning ways Tuesday night, January 13, against North Cobb Christian with a 37-14 victory that included scoring by six players. Shelby Wingate and Brannan Cobb combined for 27 points and Shelby led the Pack in rebounds. Hannah White continues to create defensive havoc, leading the girls in steals. The team’s record is now 7-2.
