Varsity Boys Soccer Team Defeats Excel
The Pack rallied from a late Monday night loss to Our Lady of Mercy to win 6-4 in an offensive show down with Excel Christian. Berto Dryden's (12th) performance in the first half included a 3 goal hat trick on a header from a cross by William Hellier (9th), and assists by Kerry Martin (10th) and Jude Lewis (10th). Kerry added a goal in the half as well. Second half highlights included a combination of Kerry and Aaron Harges (9th) to assist Austin Hoover's (11th) goal. William completed the Pack scoring with a 35 yard strike from the mid field. The boys are back in action on Monday hosting the Darlington School.
Varsity Girls Soccer Team Comes Out On Top
In their second game in as many days, the varsity girls soccer team took on the Lady Scots of Galloway. Despite keeping the ball on the offensive end for the first half, the first period ended with no score. The Lady WolfPack kept the pressure on and finally broke the ice on a goal by Logan Pearce (10th) off an assist from Frances Hamilton (12th). Within a minute the Scots evened the score with a shot off the crossbar. The intensity picked up for the remainder of the game. Frances was able to punch one in from an assist by Sophie Kemether (12th) to put Whitefield ahead for good. Final score was 2-1. Strong defensive play from Elaine Sharitz (12th), Kate McPhail (11th) and goalie Lauren Burke (9th) also contributed to the victory.
The girls will be back in action next week with home games Monday and Tuesday against Darlington and Pace. Come out and support the Pack!
Middle School Blue Wins Again
Whitefield's Middle School Blue baseball team took care of business against Epstein, winning 9-2 last night. The game was highlighted with a post-game speech by Middle School baseball founder Chris Digiorgio. The boys were focused to play with "no fear" and in God's honor for Him. The tone is always set by the pitching staff.
Hats off to starter Casey Huffman (8th) for a dominating four inning outing. "Smooth kid ice" Alex Carver (8th) came in relief. The bats were hot. Coleman Miller (8th) and Casey Bowman (8th) had big blast triples. The defensive middle infield "duo" of Jacob Pitts (8th) and West Peterson (7th) resembled dirt " vacuum cleaners" throwing out every ball their way. Alex Carver was on cruise control with a dominating offensive on base percentage. Jared Jones (8th) had two walks and was fast and aggressive on the base paths. Jacob led with three RBI's and Jake Lewis (8th) had two RBI's. Zach Justice (7th) played a double header (Gold and Blue) and drove the ball to right/center for his shot at the plate. Parker McKinney (7th) also blasted the ball to right/center for a hit and played with poise behind the plate for his Blue debut. We keep telling you all... come see our brand of baseball! The next game is this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Dunwoody Park.
Middle School Gold Beats Dunwoody White
Although the WolfPack was trailing 9-2 at one time, yesterday's Middle School Gold game became a big win with the Pack coming out on top. Pitchers Danny Megathlin (6th) and Zachary Justice kept the hard hitting Dunwoody team to only three runs after the third inning. Big hits from Luke Peterson,(7th) Parker McKinney (7th) MJ McCurdy(6th) and leadoff walks by Conner Koenig and Wesley Mitchell, started the last inning rally to win the game. A big team effort for a huge win for the Pack. Congratulations boys!
Middle School Boys Soccer Team Wins Three-In-A-Row
The Middle School boys soccer team won their third game in a row with their third shutout in a row against Holy Innocents on Tuesday. Score was 4-0! Matthew Soud and Josh Orr each scored two goals! The defense played another great game! The boys are now 5-2-1 on the season!
Middle School Tennis Team Has Decisive Victory
The Middle School Pack Rackets started their second week of match play with a clear win over Landmark Christian. Singles players Corrie Lemasters (5th), Jack Prybis (5th) and Emma Prybis (6th) beat their opponents with commanding wins. Doubles teams Cannon Crompton (7th)/Connor Miller (7th), Alden Evans (7th)/Annie Edwards (6th), Olivia Veenendaal-Casper (7th)/Caroline Bradford (7th), and Hannah Morris (7th)/ Maddie King (6th) all won after tough on court battles. Close upsets in tiebreakers by singles player Bryan Holsinger (5th) and doubles team Susan White (6th)/ Barrett Bynum (6th) were fought with great skill and sportsmanship. Way to go Middle School Pack Rackets!
